Multi-Focal Photochromic Sunglasses PBS01

Our progressive mutifocal photochromic sunglasses combine stylish good looks, high optical quality lenses, metal-screwed hinges, and sturdy lightweight frames. Non-polarised distortion-free acrylic multifocal lenses with a tint range from 0% indoors to 75% in full sun conditions provide sun protection outdoors combined with near-vision assistance indoors or outdoors in any lighting conditions.

What Are Photochromic Lenses?

Photochromic lenses are clear indoors but when outdoors they react to the UV radiation in sunlight and become tinted. The level of tint depends on the amount of UV exposure so in outdoor cloudy conditions the lens tint will be less than on clear sunny days, and they will be completely clear indoors. Car windows and windscreens tend to block UV radiation so photochromic lenses may not achieve full tint in cars.

What Are Progressive Multi-Focal Lenses?

While regular reading sunglasses have a single prescription strength for near-vision across the whole lens, progressive multi-focal lenses have a near-vision section only in the bottom 40% of the lens while the upper section of the lens has no magnification power. 

Between the two sections is an 8mm wide transitional zone where the magnifying lower section blends into the non-magnified upper section, providing a degree of intermediate distance assistance.

The magnification power shown is the power of the near-vision (reading) section of the lens.
